Came back from the water yesterday and while washing down the boat I noticed that the Grease Nipple (I think you call it Zerk over there) was missing.

I'm pretty sure it was there last time I went out so not sure what's happened.

Do you think that water would have got int the gimble bearing or would the grease that's in there have prevented ingress?

I was in the water for about 5 hours and the temp of the water was 31c.

Thanks for the prompt response as always Bond-o but I was hoping to get away with the 'ideal' solution.

I damned if I'm gonna give someone here $500 to have a look and it's out of the question for me to do it with limited time, tools and excess temperatures here to work in.

Just want an opinion as I would think the the grease would've kept the water out.
It was topped up a month ago during a service.

If water would definitely have gone in then that's a different story.

Put a new nipple on, put plenty of new grease in and hope that if any water got in, it will be forced out of the bearings and eventually evaporate. Without checking, you just gotta hope for the best...
