I am working on getting my 86 Rinker Fish and ski ready and have lots of misc questions mostly going to be about seat repair and construction, but I have a question about my gas hose. The one that goes from the hole in the back of the boat to my tank, seems to be a 4in or so rubber type hose...anyway its dry rotted and cracked...where do I begin to find a replacement...I live in central Indiana...I'm also not sure where to post this, so if its the wrong forum please tell me where to repost...thanks in advance for the help I've heard this site is full of very intelligent and helpful people

Re: Lost

I think the hose says something about U.S. Coast Guard approved

That is a 1 1/2 inch hose. It has to be Coast Guard approved and meet SAE J1527 Type A2 and ISO 7840 Type A2 standards. Any local marina should have it or be able to get it for you. Do a google search for marine supply stores near you.

Re: Lost

That's your tank fill hose. You need to use CG-approved hose, and you buy it by the foot from a marine supplier. If the fill hose is shot, chances are the vent hose is too. That's typically a 5/8" CG approved hose that runs from the top of the tank to a vent fitting on the side of the hull up near the gunwale. That hose is just as important as it 1. releieves tank pressure, and 2. leads gasoline fumes out of the tank and off the boat. If it's cracked/rotted, those fumes just gravitate to the bilge.

Don't get sticker shock. That hose is about 20 bucks a foot. Tyr to get it as close as possible to the original length hose. Do not buy extra thinking you will cut it. It has a piano wire reinforcing and grounding spiral insert sandwiched between rubber layers.
