Loud Rattle On Startup

All,

I have a Yamaha '03 Fx140. 250 hours.
Had the Jet pump bearing and inner bearings replaced last year.
On startup, for the first five seconds, or so, the engine surges a bit and there is a very load rattle/grinding noise. Then it all settles down to normal reduction gear noise, engine noise, smooth idle.

Thoughts?

PS: a couple of trips coming up I wanted to go on, now not so sure.
Arghhh...

Sounds like a bearing.

is the starter gear retracting or getting hung up?

Any rocks or debris in the pump or trapped in the nozzle?
