Am I looking at something wrong here? I am working on my brothers 1993 70 h/p evenrude.VE70TLETS
It blew a head gasket and I was replacing it and cleaned the carbs good.
These carbs have high speed jets in the bottom with idle jets in the plastic top.
The jets in in the high speed hole are 53D
The jets in the top are 55D. am I looking at this wrong or is this right.
There was several service bulletins out on this motor and one said to change high speed to 54D.
It has a low idle sneeze so I ordered a whole kit for all three carbs and was wondering if I need to go ahead and change the jets.
I did all the new upgrades that S/B were put out on it because they were looked at but the new jets and the heat sensor was never replaced

Re: Low and high speed jets

Bubba....The original parts break down list the idle air jet (one in the top) to be a 55. The high speed jet lists out to be a 53D. Are you looking at SB 2271? That's the only one I could find that says anything about the shaker yer' workin' on.

By the By....sorry I ain't got those SB's to ya' yet....my scanner crapped out on me....won't do squat but sit there and look pertty.

mmm obj thats is what my wife says about me :D
Yea that is the one I was talking about.
Got the head back on and the upgrades done but it didn't improve the compression that much.
I discussed the issues with these motors so he is going to try to run it this summer.
He said he is going to search for a low hour 2 stroke in or around 98 to 2001.
If he can't find one is going to buy a new one.

BTW jim what makes one sneeze at idle like that.
Don't worry about the SB's I got them from a shop not to far from me today.

Great bubba...glad ya' got the SB's.

Most likely it's a lean sneeze. To much air or to little fuel. The 70 yer workin on has a low speed needle on each carb. You should be able to work the sneeze out with those. Don't know the prelim settings. If ya' have the manual, follow it. Should tell ya' whats what.
