Can't stop alarm from sounding. Please help rookie mechanic(owner). The low oil alarm sounds untill a 4 wire harness is disconnected on the port side of the engine, light blue, tan, purple, and black. I am assuming that one of these wires is disabling a sensor of some sort. I should add that there is plenty of oil available in the oil tank but pumping the priming bulb does not stop the alarm. Can anyone shed light on this problem or direct me to the next step. THANKS N ADVANCE,ifish24752

Welcome to iboats, Ifish!
Oil alarms! There is nothing like mixing it in the tank to be certain it is receiving the oil it needs.
But i think your engine has fuel injection?? If so, buy the shop manual, and replace the level sensor in the tank. It's cheaper to do it that way, than to have a shop do it, and you'll have the manual when it comes time for impeller replacement (every 2 seasons).
I've never pulled one of those tank sensors, but have read threads here, describing the process fairly well. Try a topic search for "oil alarm", oil tank sending unit and others simular phrases.
Happy reading :D

Your engine has 3 different alarm sounds. An overheat is a steady constant beep. Low oil is a 1/2 second beep (approx.) every 40 seconds. No oil delivery is a rapid on-off beep (usually 1/2 second on, 1/2 second off).

If indeed it's the low oil alarm, its a very simple matter to remove the pick-up/float arrangement from the tank. The float could simply be stuck. While you have the pick-up out, check the condition of the filter screen. If its nasty-gooky, clean or replace it. Any time the oil delivery system is "opened" for servicing (either pump or line replacement or servicing the pick-up), you should run a tank or two of premix until you verify oil consumption.

Keep us posted.

-John
