Low Oil Pressure Alarm

My low oil pressure alarm goes off when I run the boat at 3800 RPM for about 5 minutes. When it goes off the oil pressure gauge reads about 40 PSI, so it is obviously wrong. I have to reduce speed and turn it off and then back on, that resets it. I can cruise at 3200 RPM and it doesn't go off, but once I go to 3800 it goes off. I replaced the sender and it still does it, very frustrating.

Thanks

Howdy

Not necessarily the gauge is correct and the alarm is wrong. That said it might also be, low drive lube, overheat, low water pressure (if you have one). If your sure it's the oil pressure sender, put a mechanical gauge Teed in line to see what it shows.

What is your engine serial number?
Is it a EFI, MPI or carb?
