I had a complete remanufactured mercuiser,350 mag mpi and alpha1 installed about 6 months ago,. it has been excellent,. fuel injection is fantastic,.
but,. when I first start the low oil alarm goes on,. all oil levels are fine,.
It takes a while for it to go off,. like a long time,. maybe 15 minutes,. if I give it gas ,.,.,. it is annoying,. is this normal,.?

Re: low oil warning alarm

Definitely not normal. Might be a problem with the oil pressure sending unit. Check the connections there first.

Re: low oil warning alarm

Howdy,

The low oil warning, high temp, and drive oil level alarms are simply "grounding switches" all connected together in parallel.

So any of those switches if actuated will ground the alarm circuit and sound the alarm. You have to observe the oil pressure or temp gages or drive oil tank to figure out which one it is.

If any of those wires in the alarm circuit are frayed even a little and touch "ground" you'll get the alarm.

Most oil pressure alarm switches don't take much pressure to open them (when the engine is off the oil press switch is closed) You have a "new" engine. It's unlikely that it actually has low oil pressure at any time. (I would still put a direct reading mechanical gage on it just to make sure!!)

Then check all the wires in the alarm circuit to find the "short". You should probably also disconnect each sensor (oil, temp, and drive oil level switch) to eliminate them as potential problems while checking the wires.

Best Regards.
