Low power?

I have a 2001 Glastron 249 with a Volvo Penta 5.0 and all of the sudden the boat will not plane out. Put new gas in and used Startron and ran fine up the river. On the way back would not plane out again but is not choking or sputtering. After about a 1/2 hour of slow going tried again and the boat planed out fairly quickly and ran fine back to the dock? This has happened twice this season but never happened in the 5 years I have owned this boat.

Not sure what it would be but if this was happening to me I would
Next time the symptoms occurred

1) pull the plugs and make sure they are all firing. You would be surprised how a v8 can sound when its only running on 6 cylinders or so.

2)Check ignition advance, if your timing is not advancing for some reason at higher RPM's that will definitely retard the ignition to a significant point at that RPM and kill power.
