Our outboard is an Evinrude 225 HP, 1994. I would like to know if operating the boat at low speed (maybe not even reaching plane speed) for a small trip (6-7 nm plus return) would cause damage to the engine ? My wife went through surgery some weeks ago, and even when she is now well recovered, I would like to avoid jumps/bumps in a trip we are planning to the beach/islands next saturday.

thanks

Re: low RPM operation

Hi, Kesh.

I don't think there would be any risk in operating your engine in the 1500-2000rpm range for extended periods. I wouldn't suggest keeping it below 1,000pm for long periods, though.

Have a nice trip. :)

Re: low RPM operation

It should be able to idle all day, if in good working order.
