Hi guys, Just thought I would give you an update of the problem I had come across. I was getting a ping when I went down to neutral from forward also a low voltage reading on my fish-finder, but the low voltage reading only came up when I was at idle.
I played with the gear cables and lever and found the actual lever loose, started it up went to forward and then reverse still one big ping. (THEN I NOTICED IT) The starter was still running so I went to the ignition switch and noticed it had not fully sprung back and was sitting in the start position slightly, enough to keep the starter engaged. As I went to switch it it went back to run with little movement and seems to be stuck right at the end of the start to run position, you turn it about an 1/8 if that to get the starter to disengage.
Ok question please! I am an electrician and was wondering if squirting some contact spray would help release the spring more to stop it from sticking?
