low water pickups, ???

I have a 1979 Allison xst with a 79 merc 200hp. I been expeimenting with engine height and its taken my water pickups above the water line. I'm now at 3" below the pad. Anyone have any info, links, or any suggestions on what I can do to pick up water? Do I need to replace the foot or modify it or what? Thanks.

They do make a low water pickup for outboards. I had a friend that raced boats in his younger days and he always talked about low water pickup. I have no clue where to get them at though. You might search "race boat acessories" and come up with something.
