Hi all;

We're looking to getting into a 2011 Lowe 1667 WT, and are thinking about a 20HP motor. We will usually have 3 big guys in the boat, front electric motor, small steering console, depthfinder etc. We will be in small lakes in NY's Catskill mountains. We dont care about speed, but want the boat to run properly. Should we consider a higher HP motor?

Thanks in advance!

isnt that boat rated for only 25HP? As long as the total weight is under the limit, should be fine. Dont expect to go anywhere fast though.

Yep, 20-hp will work fine for small lakes and yes 25-hp is max for the boat. However, a wise man always said "get as much HP as you can afford". I don't think you'll break the bank (or tick off the wife) if you reach in a little deeper into those pockets for the extra 5-hp. Besides 5 extra ponies with a full load and a liitle wind on the lake will be $$$ well spent.
