Lower crankcase head seal (sping side down?)

My manual is a bit confusing on my 1985 J70TLCOS. I've pressed in my crankcase seal with the spring loaded side facing the lower unit. (The metal lip of the seal is facing the powerhead and the rubber lip of the seal is facing the lower unit.) Did I install this seal correctly?<br />Thanks.<br />donnyd

Don.... You have it installed correctly. The spring side should be facing the lower unit.
