1)I bought some lower end oil and was gonna add to the level of oil ,took the bottom plug out to put in a treaded pc. from the pump put it wouldn't go in(couldn't get it to thread) so I didn't go any further....not knowing how much is in there I let some oil out, I 'm thinking that shouldn't pose a problem, after this weekend from the lake i'm gonna drain it figure it out.

2) just wondering if you can use gear oil ( 90 w) for your lower end oil.

You can use any good lower unit lube you want. I use the stuff from Wallyworld and it is fine. You may have to spin your prop a little to put the nozzle in to fill it. You also have to take the top screw out, fill until it comes out the top then replace that screw. Make sure you put new seals on both top and bottom fill screws.

yea I heard that about replacing those seals.

my keel is very close to the ground when vertical. if I where to use a squeeze bottle can I tilt the motor up a little to accommodate the bottle

i have the same problem i think its best to keep the motor level when filling the gearcase. i found a small bottle that looks like a ketchup bottle and i use that. it holds just enough oil to fill the gearcase.

They make a pump that is very inexpensive that screws onto the top of your gear lube bottle and you can just pump it into the lower unit from any angle.
