i was just curious, I bought some 80w90 marine gear lube GL5 and was just curious what the difference is between the marine gear lube GL5 and regular 80w90 Gl5 which can be purchased from a parts store?

Re: lower gear lube

Ability to absorb water is the principal difference. Of course, water should NOT be there, but seals do leak on occasion.

I think he means water should NOT be there, typo, :)

As stated, , it has additives to protect the lower unit in case you have water intrusion.

I hope you replaced the washers on the vent and drain screws as well.
