I have an '85 Sea Ray (230MR Merc sterndrive (305)) that I recently replaced the bellows and lower shift cable (among other maintenance). I took it out today for the first time since I purchased, and all went pretty well. One problem that I noticed....the shift cable is rubbing/chaffing on the very end of the rotating engine coupling. I pulled it over and zip-tied to a bracket, but want to know the "correct" location that this cable should be routed? Not sure if it goes to the starboard side of the driveshaft or does it go to port and make some kind of gentle bend. It as been too long since removed.
