Lower Unit Damage Assessment

Long time lurker, first time poster. I’m troubleshooting a drive issue and when I pulled the lower unit I see what appears to be some damage and bulging of the lower unit seal. Can someone verify that the attached pictures show a bent plate and that it should not look this way?
