lower unit drain plug

ok so i am having issues with getting my drain plug, and vent hole. any tips? motor is a 93 johnson 2 stroke.

If trouble is removing, use one of these (impact driver):



Always works.

I had to use an impact driver to remove the drain plug on my 1990 Johnson 40 HP outboard engine. It worked great.

Some people apparently bring their motors to the Incredible Hulk to tighten the drain plugs! W/new plug washers, just cinch 'em up.. no need for hulkamania.

This simple piece of advise has taken me 50 years to learn. Better late than never.

The spec is 84-86 in. lbs. for tightening.
