Hi,
I've got a merc 60, 1988, and when I bought the pontoon the manual was destroyed. I need to know what kind of Quick Silver grease to use. I had a pumper bottle that I think I used on my 150, but reading on the bottle it said mercruiser stern drive. I never own a mercruiser so I must have used in my 150? Can someone tell me what I should use?.....................Jerry

Use the marine grade oil. It is thicker and handles any moisture better than auto gear oil. Use 80 -90 weight oil.

You need a "Hi-Vis", Marine-Grade, Hypoid gear oil in the weight range previously mentioned.

If you want a premium Lube I expect Merc has a Quicksilver synthetic gear oil that will do nicely.

Otherwise Wally's (Wal-Mart) probably has what you need in their Hy-Vis gear oil, for around 3 Bucks a quart.

Quiksilver makes 2 different varieties of gear lube if thats what you are talking about. Regular and Hi-Performance, the high performance is a synthetic blend and is what I would recommend. If you're talking about the grease that goes on the propshaft or any of the other grease points regular marine grease will do.
