Lower unit interchange

Will a '98 65 hp yammy lower unit fit on a a '99 90 hp yammy? In the parts drawing I see there is a 13 t pinion on the 65 and a 12 t on the 90, they seem to run same props. What are the differences/ drawbacks?

The difference is the gear ratio. You will likely have to change to a higher pitch prop to keep the RPM's at the proper range.
