1999 Johnson 115 leaks foot oil in the water..can see it easily when beached on sand bar. I have changed the oil but did not use new seals. I can see the drain/fill plugs and its not leaking. Mechanic told me when it sits in the sun that it swells up and overflows...I aint buying this as I have seen anything on the forum saying this. If oil gets out, then water gets in. After draining the foot oil early this summer I noticed a short burst of water draining first, then oil. I plan on getting new gaskets for drain/fill plug and checking oil again. Any other advise? Thanks!

get the washers, and change the oil, then after 3 or 4 uses change it again along with washers, see if you are actually getting water. if the motor is tilted the carbs overflow, and exhaust residue gets in the water, causing a slick.

Thanks! I hope your right, but I use Penzoil Marine Grade foot oil and it has a distinct smell. Getting the new gaskets today and doing a full reoil...appreciate it..anymore advise highly recommended!!
