Lower Unit Oil Colour.

Just drained my loil from the lower unit. Figured it should be replaced before heading up north.

Is it normal for the oil to look like it is separated? A lot of black oil came out then some that was grey-ish or beige-ish. Almost like it was a mixture that separated. Water getting in through the seals maybe? Or a problem I shoud address? Or maybe a winter oil used by the owner previously?

Or maybe normal?

if it hasn't been run in a while, probably some water in the oil, then it seperated a bit. change it up, then check it when you get back and see it's gone milky, then you'll know for sure. oil is cheap, so if's getting water in, you can change it up a few times over the season, then rip it down in the fall and fix seals
