Lower unit oil is Milky.

Good day Mates and God bless. I drained and put in new oil before the Week end, but when I checked it last night after two trips out, it was Milky looking. What is my problem? I have no leakage around the prop. The second problem with my 28 HP E-rud was surging at high speed.
Thanks much and keep it between the shores.

What year is it? Most common cause is gaskets around the drain screws or fishing line in and around the prop. At least that's what I've been told.

Hey Clippership.
It is a 1964 28HP. I assume it is water intake. Just trying to figure out where. Do you know if the unit develops a vacuum (Internal) when running?
Thanks Popsrose'

Unit may develop a slight pressure/vacuum as it cools/heats up, which allows water in when you have a bad seal. I'd pressure test the lower unit. Drain the oil and pressure test with lower unit on motor. Pressure tester available on Ebay for about $30. Pump it up to about 10psi. See (and hear) where it is leaking - spray a little dish soap solution on prop shaft, drain and vent bolts, and the little phillips screw on the lower unit. If it bubbles or hisses, it is leaking. Hopefully, it is only a nylon washer on the drain or vent bolt. That's easy to fix. Next most likely candidate is the propshaft seal - fishing line gets tangled around them and compromises the seal. There are also seals at the upper driveshaft and the shift rod, which can only be fixed by pulling the lower unit.

Thanks guys. Pulled prop and O Ring was bulging, had a piece of line in it. Fill and drain plugs don't look so good either. I guess I got my work cut out for me. Lindy you called it correct again. Thanks one more time. Manual is on the way thanks for everything.
