Lower unit oil

Do I have to use a marine lower unit oil or any oil that meets the "MIL" Spec. The motors are 1989 Evenrude 225 hp. This is just a question for consideration. And are there any that you would recomend for any reason ?.

Use "any" oil at your own risk.

As a general rule,why not use what it came with,and what the factory reccomends?<br />Lots of other oils probably might work well.But unless you know a whole lot more about oils and usage than the manufacturer,why fool around?<br /><br />DHP
