Can I use regular 80/90 automotive gear oil instead of marine lower unit oil? According to the label, they both meet the same specification and appear to be the same except for the price.
Please advise.

Re: Lower unit oil

I believe the l/u oil is less prone to foaming - in any case you are looking at a couple of bucks a year at most. I would not risk it.

Re: Lower unit oil

The best gear oil we have ever found for force and chrysler outboards is quicksilver high performance gear oil. You can use it in any year and hp. bret

If you need further assistance please email me @ forcepower01@yahoo.com. thanks,Bret
