Lower unit on a 54 Evinrude

What kind of lower gear lube should I use on my 1954-15 horse Evinrude.
The repair manual says type C lube, but I also read its not made anymore.
Any alternatives? The lube in my lower unit seems very thick is that normal or is it this way because it's been sitting for over 25 years. Any ideas would be great.

80-90 wt gear lube will work fine.
