Lower unit or housing

Hi guys 87 mercruiser long story short I got stuck in the mud when I freed myself I notice the engine revving higher then normal and the prop not spinning as fast shortly after I lost all prop movement before i tear it down any suspects where I should look lower unit or in the housing itself just wanted to get you guys opinion first thanks Erik

prop hub slipping? You could check by marking a line on the prop and see if it stays lined up. Just a thought with an easy way to check. Good luck.

Pray for a spun hub in the prop or engine coupler?

Could have broke a shaft in the drive but it would have gone all at once.

Did you smell any burning rubber? = spun coupler

Give the prop a good looking at...

Drain and inspect drive oil...

Check the prop first! Don't tear into the drive for no reason.
