lower unit part numbers

I'm looking to replace my worn out lower unit housing on my 1978 model 800 80 hp merc. I have located housings but all have different numbers. My question is there a site where I can plug in my serial number and get a list of cross reference numbers that would work on my motor? Also where is the part number stamped on my lower unit housing. Is it inside the casting, I don't find anything on the outside.<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />Ed
