Lower unit plug washer - 98 johnson25 horse

Hi, there's no dealer anywhere around here and I "misplaced" one of the nylon washers for the drain plug on the lower unit. Can I just go down to the hardware store (lowes) and grab a bag of 'em? Are they the same?

I have one of those washers on my 15 hp rude that stays stuck to the engine when I take the plug out could yours still be on the engine? Or could you have done what my son-in-law did and drop it in the bucket that the oil was draing into? I have never seen those washers at Lowes so I have no idea if they would work. Good luck

buy it on line.I would think an auto parts store could match a washer to your drain plug

Those are not washers. They are use-once crushable gaskets that must be changed every time the plugs are taken out or you will get water intrusion into the gearcase.

Will, No, it's at my local Walmart, somewhere around/under an aisle shelf in the hardware section. LOL. Don't ask. One thing's for certain, the white washer is very camo'ed against the Walmart floor.

Thanks for the heads-up JB. That's why the one I lost was new, I was replacing the old one with a new one. So, you're saying a nylon washer (sorry) from downtown won't do the trick? I will likely just order from CM.

the nylon washers you get from Lowes or Home depot work fine.Just make sure you use a new one each time you slacken the screws.
