lower unit plug?

I just got done changing my lower unit oil and noticed that I don't have a rubber O-ring on my bottom screw only on the top so the question is do I need one on the bottom. The gear oil came out milky white so I know water is getting in there....

You need either an O ring or a nylon washer. My motors call for the O ring but I feel more comfortable with the washe. Change them every time you change the gear oil.<br /><br />I would refil with fresh oil and try again before going any further. The missing washer or O ring may have been your only problem.

i'll see if i can find some of the washers thanks. I think I have it all cleared out it took a coupe of quarts though.
