Lower Unit Removal Help Needed.

So, I committed to replacing my water pump tonight thinking it was going to be a big job, and it has. First off, I removed all of the bolts holding the lower unit to the mid section, but for some reason my lower unit still won't come off.

I read somewhere online that you have to put the boat in reverse, and take out the shift rod screw. Where the heck is that? I looked and looked, but I can't find this shift rod screw. To clarify I have a '94 Vindicator 200.

Thanks in advance for the help.

While I'm at it .... will I need to know anything special before reinstalling the lower unit? Right now it's sitting about 1 inch below the mid section, and it's not budging. Will it be that hard to get back on?

Re: Lower Unit Removal Help Needed.

Well, in all the boredom I answered my own question. I scathed the internet, and came up with a really awesome tutorial. I had to have a small childs hands to get to mine since it was underneath the intake manifold with only about 2 inches of room between my powerhead and the cowling, but I got it done with the 'one click' method of my ratchet. :D Took me about 30 minutes just to get that little screw out, but at least I can repair in the air conditioning of my home now.

Here is a link to the tutorial I found for future reference. Really awesome illustrations.
