Is this a job that someone can do at home? I've have mechanical abilities, but no manual. I got this motor after it sat several years. I replaced the impeller last fall and cranked with muffs. It didn't leak then, but when I got it out this year it leaked oil at prop and got water in foot.

BKR,<br />I've heard yes and no on this as a DIY project. I'm saving up $300 to have it done on mine by the local marina mech. Seal kit $62.50 plus 2-3 hours shop time at $70 per hour. It's 30+ years old, so probably need to replace all the LU seals. Guess I'm not brave enough.

Unless you have the specialize tools, you will not be able to do it yourself. You should get a manual though, it will list the tools you need should you decide to try and do it.
