lower unit swap.

one of my buddies is having a problem with his gears slipping in his lower unit. He has a 1962 75 hp. He is thinking about swaping it out with a 1968 65hp. Do any of you know if any of the gears or if the lower unit itself is able to be swapped?

There were two very different units used in 1968, the standard and the heavy duty. The standard is a direct replacement. The heavy duty will bolt up as a complete unit, but everything inside is different.

The '68 standard has an improved clutch dog with detents. The parts will all go in the '62 if you also swap the prop shaft.
