I have a 1992 E115tlend and recently had a helicoil installed because the upper plug in the lower unit stripped out. Now it's not holding presure (10 psi). Was using a white nylon gasket with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Helicoil in bottom plug hole.
Pretty hard to use gasket maker on a bottom plug on a motor you cant tip on its side

Sounds like the machinist did not line the tap up properly.---This will leak gear oil.-----------So you might want to true up the gasket surface around that hole with a dremel ??

you could try a flat rubber sealing washer available from your local hardware store.

Ok right, i see its the top hole.
Id ring whoever did it and get them to do a free homecall.
Otherwise id dry the hole, put gasket maker on threads and do as the other say above.

Thanks for the info everybody. One question. What is Gasket Maker? Is that the name of it?

When you are installing the plug there will be lots of oil present.--Not sure if a liquid sealer is the best choice here.---Look into a making a washer of some thick rubber to to this job.

Re: lower unit vent plug leaking

I can offer you a redneck solution if this helps at all.

I have this friend who owns a 1979 Evinrude 115. For some reason, he always had issues with water intrusion on his lower unit, yet all the seals tested good. He figured out that even with fresh crush washers installed at every fluid change, the water was getting in through the vent and fill screws. Finally, he decided to rough the area (surrounding the screws) with sandpaper a little bit. Then, (after a fluid change) he puts a dab of clear silicone on the area and lets it dry (completely covering the screw and surrounding area) Believe it or not, this solved his issue. The silicone holds on strong and has yet to come off during operation. Peels off when needed too.

Just a idea that worked for him....been doing it for 10 years now.
