Lower unit

I have a 1989 Johnson 115 and the lower unit fill plug is stripped. The plug is fine other than the o-ring but the threads in the housing are stripped enough that I can't get the plug tight. I'm wondering if anyone makes an oversize plug, or can I tap it and use something else? Do I need to replace the lower unjt housing?<br />Thanks for any help!!

You can go to a good car parts store and get a heli coil.Just take the screw with you and show it to the salesman so they can get you the right size.Be aware that you are going to make a bit of a tap into aluminum so make very sure that you are going straight and DON'T OVERDO IT.<br /><br />good luck,Rolmops
