Not sure if this goes in this forum but here goes.

I'm looking at some of the enhanced maps for Lowrance graphs. They're grouped by region and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these, and also any opinions as to whether or not these were worth the $99 they cost. Right now I'm running a Lowrance LMS527C iGPS unit, and while it's got a reasonably simple chartplotter I'm interested in better mapping of the bottom contours.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Lowrance Carotgraphy add-ons

I have used Garmin Mapsource enhancement CDs for marine use (US Recreational Lakes, Midwest) and auto use (City Navigator 5,6&8). I use them in my Garmin GPSMAP 276C.

They are worth a lot more than they cost.

I don't know if that helps you with the Lowrance unit, but I would guess that they would be similarly useful.

JB- Can you transfer those maps from the CD to a SD card and go from there? I didn't think of finding maps and making my own SD cards....

I use the Lowrance Nautic Path chip in mine and love it. Worth every penny.

I have a couple of extra cards. I put certain map sets on them by putting them in the unit and downloading from the 'puter. Then I carry them along to swap in when I get to the place I want to use them.

There are usb card programmer units that you can use to swap data between the 'puter and the cards, and you can also buy pre-programmed cards for too much, compared to the cost of the CD and a little time to program them yourself.

I use Navionics SD card on my LMS525c. Excellent add on features, but basic depth contours and navigation are about the same as the NauticPath USA chip it replaced...Probably not really worth the extra cash...($99 vs. $299)

NauticPath USA is an excellent chip for the Lowrance GPS.

What about the card from LEI? That one seems like it's around $60...?
