Lowrance Gps stopped working

Spent the week in the San Juan Islands and while running around the gps flashed "position lost" and has not been able to lock onto a sattelite since. The unit is the Lowrance Globalmap 5200c with the external antenae. I need to figure it out so I can use it in a couple of weeks. do you think it is in the head unit or the antennae

The head is only a display unit. Loss of the position signal is an antenna problem

The external "antennae" is actually the complete GPS receiver unit, not just an antenna for a receiver contained elsewhere. Unfortunately, LOWRANCE has something of a bad track record with the early versions of this GPS Receiver Module. They seem to be prone to failure, which is often attributed to exposure to RADAR signals of high strength or from static electricity discharges.

I recommend you contact LOWRANCE customer service to see if they can provide any extended support for your product. They may offer to sell you a replacement GPS Receiver Module which is a newer, better, and more reliable GPS receiver at a reduced price compared to normal retail.

I had similiar problem on my LCX113HD but fortunately I have another boat with the GPS punk to test the unit and discovered it was the head. I called Lowrance tech who recommended to do a hard reset but the head still wasn't receiving so I ended up shipping it back. The tech said that they conduct the same hard reset and if it the head, they ship you back a new unit which they did. Cost depends on what model you have and if they still have replacement units. I too suggest that you call Lowrance for assistance.

Try unplugging the GPS antenna module and reconnecting it to see if it re locks.

Also, verify that your have the appropriate power to the Network, and if switched, that the switch is ON and functioning. Do Not ask me how I know this, very embarassing.
