Re: Lowrance lms240 card question

You can use a Multi-Media Card (MMC) or a Secure Digital card (SD). This is according to the information I was able to gather from a Google search, includign a link to Lowrance's website. In short, you can use the card from your digital camera if it is one of the mentioned formats. Otherwise, you can find cards for very little if you shop around. Also, there is a software upgrade from Lowrance. You can find the upgrade at:

Lowrance LMS-240 software upgrade

Re: Lowrance lms240 card question

Thanks for the info David......

I read all I could on the Site and went to LEI and had no idea what they were talkin about......All I could find was the $350 package deal that they had for sale. I opened up the door on my unit and there was no card in there....From what I understand I need the/A card to do the software upgrade..........Warren

Re: Lowrance lms240 card question

As long as you are using the same type of card (i.e. if it calls for SD, use SD) and are you able to properly insert the card in the unit, there should be no issues.

I do have a recommendation though. If the device gives you the option to format the card, do so (assuming you have nothing on it that you don't mind losing). This way, you are assured highest levels of compatibility (the file system on the card may be corrupt from previous uses but you may not know about it). I would especially recommend this process for firmware upgrades where you don't want to take any chances.

Amir
