Lowrance LMS240 Card?????

I've had this fishfinder/gps unit for a while.....<br /><br /> Went on a buddy's boat the other day(he has the same model with better resolution)and he showed me his unit with upgraded software....<br /><br /> Whats the story on this????....Do I send it to Lowrance and pay to have it upgraded for my unit???....Don't want to spend a lot of $$$ but his map made mine look really crappy......Any Suggestions????.....Thanks Warren<br /><br />P.S....Looked online at there website and couldn't understand whats goin on....Looks like you can download something for free but not sure how to get it into the fishinder/card thingy.....

The best thing to do would be to call Lowrance directly. They will let you know what your options are.

Warren,<br />Just go to the site and download the free update for your particular unit. After that you'll need either a MMC of SD memory card and USB card reader to get the update file from the PC to your unit. Once loaded onto the card, just insert the card into your unit, power it up and you're done.<br />This was just a "quickie" on how to proceed, there are a few install options you need to make but the utility will prompt you, walking you through the procedure. It's really simple.<br />Mapping is another issue. He probably has the Freedom maps or is using Map Create.
