I have a Lowrance X51 that has been on my boat now for over a year and has worked fine. Now when I pick up the speed in the boat - anything over 5 to 10 MPH - the depth reading will start blinking and remain the same regardless of the depth of water. When I slow down it seems to correct itself. I have tried adjusting the sensitivity but that doesn't seem to correct the problem. The transducer is a transom mount.

Could it be coming out of the water at these speeds or seeing water that has a lot of air introduced?? That would be my guess.

Some of the previous transducers had a break away feature that would sometimes kick up at high speeds or if you hit something. You can just push it forward and snap it back into place.

Just an idea.

You are loosing bottom lock.Try relocating transducer. Trial and error is the name of the game.

Best of luck Keith B..
