What is the WIDEST transducer I can get for the Lowrance X65?

I have the factory one that came with it and I think it's a 20 degree. Is there one that will show a wider area under the boat?

The main lake I fish at isn't that deep. It averages approx. 10ft. The transducer that came with the X65 just doesn't seem to capture very much under the boat.

Thanks,

H.

Re: Lowrance X65 Transducer Question

I dont know , about a wider degree of coverage. You can check the lowerance site.
But, being your lake is so shallow, the cone will be relatively small ,in 10 ft of water.
You may want to look into a side view unit, or transducer ,if they make one for the X65.
I think its hummingbird that makes a unit with sidefinder technology.
Or maybe its bottom line. Someone does.
KYHunter

Re: Lowrance X65 Transducer Question

Lowrance does not make a 200 Khz transducer wider than 20 degrees. They do market with both Eagle and the Lowrance brand up to 60 degrees. This is very missleading as it is still a 20 degree transducer but instead of rateing it at -3DB half power point (The Industry standard) their useing the -10 DB or 1/10 power point.

Really if you are fishing in 10 feet of water you would be better off to invest in some polarized sun gLasses. In 10 feet of water you will see a 3 foot circle right under the transducer. How many fish you think you might catch right under the back of the boat in 10 feet of water.

I have done a lot of bass fishing and durning the spring spawn do catch a lot of fish in 10 to 15 feet of water but not under the boat. Fish that shallow when the boat moves over them they move off. Fishing tournaments a fish finder can help you but not to see the fish you are catching. We use it to find structure and if you do see fish then note the depth and move out far enough that you can fish that depth.

In the winter when the Bass may be 50 feet deep then you may see fish you can catch. Cold water means slooooow fish and slow movement of your Bait.
