LU swap 40hp -> 33hp

Does anyone know if the lower unit on a early 60's 40hp will fit a '69 33hp? I believe they're the same but not 100% sure. Thanks.

I don't think so. The early 1960s 40 Johnrudes were all Silent Package motors with the double-wall mid-section. The 33 was a standard single-wall mid-section. The bolt patterns are different. Also, the double wall units have two water tubes, while the single wall versions have only one tube...
