What lubricant is everyone using on their cam wiper for the points (and how much)? A couple of drops of light mineral oil? I've got a '69 35HP.

Thanks,
Jim

As the tag in someone's signature, "any grease is better than no grease".

I have an old tube of Harley Hi-temp points grease that I still haven't used up, as it only takes a drop sized bit.

Otherwise I like to use a small dab of the hi-temp grease always in my grease gun, usually I buy full syn, it is very slick and lasts quite well.

I use lower unit oil--just a drop. It is handy---always laying around the garage. It is thick enough not to sling off the cam yet has extreme pressure properties.

If you are old enough to remember Bryllcreme commercials: "Bryllcreme, a little dab 'll do ya. They'll love to run their fingers through your hair."

In my pump oil can I mix 30Wt. motor oil with some of that STP oil treatment(Thick, sticky stuff), makes a great general purpose lubricant for lots of automotive and marine applications, I use it on my points cam follower felt on my VW rail buggy, stays on there good!:)

Thanks for the tips. New points/condensers, impeller and rebuilt carb are going in this weekend.

Anyone old enough to remember when they packed a little capsule of grease in the box along with the replacement points for cars?
