Are there any lubricants out there that will help compression in outboard moters?

Re: Lube

In a 2-stroke? Nope. The oil mixes with the gas and burns up. No matter how thick the oil is, it's still way too diluted to do what you want. On a 4-stroke the answer would be Yes (if you can believe the "data" from their "research"). You might try doing a decarbonizing before pronouncing those two cylinders as dead. A $7.95 can of Power Tune might save you an overhaul. It hasn't for me yet, but for eight bucks it's definately worth a try. Follow the directions on the can. Or look in the FAQs.

http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=36;t=000006
