Re: LubeDude-Stud Welders???

Hey Boomyal...we meet again ... That stud welder looks very similar to the one I got at Harbor Freight...It works Ok,slide hammer is a little on the cheap side, but at that price,(41.00)when I looked..not a bad deal, I think I paid 99 bucks for mine...It beats drilling holes for sure (if it is from harbor freight, they have a pretty liberal warranty/return policy)
Regards,
markvictor

Hey Boomer.

I think that it would be a great deal for a hobbiest such as yourself, and your right, I have used my share of studs!  Wait, that somehow dosnt sound right!

Anyway, I would go for it. You can get a better puller from snapon if you want to. It will make life better, but you will pay as much for it than you pay for the gun. Also, ther is a little hand one for light pulling also that is handier than a two pocketed shirt. :D

Re: LubeDude-Stud Welders???

Thanks all for comments. My daughter (a couple of years back) ran her rearview mirror into the back of the quarter panel (right by the wrap around taillight) of my otherwise near pristine '91 Toyota Previa Van.

It made a dent about the size of the palm of your hand and a bodyshop quoted 800 bux to fix and paint it.

Well the ol' van has got a few years on it now but is still in real good shape so with all my new found autobody skills (sons Pontiac project) and all my good HVLP paint equipment I thought I would give that dent a go. I'll even try to spot paint it.

Even if I didn't do a totally bangup job on the paint patch, the quarter panel could be re-shot later.

$60.00 for the stud welder plus the cost of some paint would be a whole lot cheaper than the $800.00 bid to repair.

...and yes MarkV, I think that is the $99 Harbor freight unit.

....L'dude, there is a snapon unit on ebay as well but it is alot more.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SNAP...63702QQitemZ4599656485QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Gothcha on the puller L'Dude.

Funny you should mention 'two pocket shirts'. For years I have worn polyester polo shirts for work. They have a little bit of a western yoke across the back with similar treatment on the end of the short sleeves where I had logos stitched.

They were two pocket and I very scientifically loaded them both up with things that I commonly use during the day.

Well they are getting worn and I needed some new ones. NO MORE TWO POCKETS!!!! GRRRRRRRR  Regardless of brand.

What about military surplus and some dye boomy?

I had the same problem over here, now I buy all my work shirts from the army surplus store for £2.50 each and dye them black. The UK military shirts are cotton and last 5x longer than polyester ones too.
