Hello Everyone. I am looking at a Lund Baron that has some denting around the transom area rivets. I spoke with the sales person, he says thats typical for Lund boats. It looks to me like the there are problem signs.

I have attached a photo of the transom. Any insight would be great.

Thank you.

They look like they are deeper than they should be but,I'm no expert on that.If you are concerned, check the wood on the inside for rot. Also you can grab the motor down by the skew when trimmed up and bounce to up and down to see of there is any movement in the transom.
Good luck!

No, it's normal from what I've seen.

Welcome to iboats!:welcome:

That looks like normal dimpling from the pressure of the rivets to me. As grub said, check the underlying wood for rot or other damage.

Doesn't look normal to me, looks like someone tried to rebuck those rivets and did more damage than good. A lot of those dents are the same size as a hammer face.

They probably tried to rebuck the rivets because of a water intrusion problem and it looks like it was too late and the wood is already rotten... and that's why the bucking damage occured.

Taking another look at the picture, I think you may be on to something, 'grub. Gotta see what's on the other side for sure.
