lund jon boat

hello I am a new member, I have a 2012 14 foot lund jon boat that takes a short shaft motor It says that its rated for a 25 horse but a lund dealer said that a 15 to 20 horse 4 cycle would be 2 heavy for the boat he recommended a 25 horse 2 cycle this doesent sound right I wanted to get away from mixing gas any help??

Not having any experience with 4 stroke outboards I would have to say that as a Lund dealer he should know his product and is leading you in the right direction or he also has a 25hp 2 stroke that he is trying to dump.

Either way, call Lund directly and ask them. Give them the model of the boat and which engines you are interested in. I have personally talk with Lund on a number of occasion and they were always very professional and helpfull.
