Hi, Jimi.

Where I fish, on LOTW, Lunds outnumber all other tinnys combined. That is a big, rough lake.

Tell us where and how you want to use the boat.

My lake is about 1/2 to 1 mile wide and about 8 miles long. It get rough sometimes.

I've noticed that some tin boats have large strakes under the hull. Those strakes seem to grab the water and make the boat ver

Any experience like this?

My experience with the Lund doesn't include much rough water but on wakes it has been good. It has a pretty flat bottom so it can hit pretty hard on the way down. However it tracks very straight from my experience.

My kickaround boat is a 12' Gamefisher, which is a rebadged Sea Nymph (Lowe), that I bought new in 1988. I won't take it out onto the main body of Sebago Lake - any of you familiar with the lake can understand why - but I'm comfortable taking it out just about everywhere else around here, and the boat (and motor, a Johnson 9.9) has held up beautifully the last 16+ seasons. With a 15HP motor a good match would be a 14', or a heavier 12' like that Lund that RotaryRacer pointed out.

One tin boat I'd never get again is a Starcraft.

Dang, Ratracer!

You just triggered an OLD memory.

I was crossing Sebago in a canoe with a group from summer camp when a guy in a Chris Craft runabout pulled up to us and informed us that Japan had surrendered. Early August, 1945. Boy, did we celebrate that night around the campfire. I think every boy in the group had at least one relative in the Pacific.

Sorry. I don't want to hijack this thread, but I had to comment.

I had a Lowe aluminum for eight years. It had a deeper V than the Lunds, so it rode better.

Mine was used in numerous Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan (including Great Lakes) lakes.

I wish I still had it.

Had a 16 Mirro- high bow model with 35hp. I fished the saltchuk Straits from Pt.Roberts across the 25 miles to islands. I wish I still had it. My partener had a 14' Lund high bow roof topper with 25hp. He went anywhere I did, it took 2 men to carry his, a trailer for mine. Either one I would trust & did trust my life to.
