Lund LX220 battery setup

Hi. I got a 2019 Lund LX220 recently, and I'm looking for some advice on the battery configuration. It came with a cranking battery and had a space for a second - where I just put a Deep Cycle. My intention is to have the cranking battery only run the motor, and have all accessories and the trolling motor run off deep cycle.

So I'm not immediately sure where to detach the accessories from the cranker and route them to the deep cycle, or what else I may need to consider. (No worries about the trolling motor, it was pre-wired to an outlet at the front) There's also a smaller loop on the existing cranking battery called "5 amp clean power"... not sure what that is.

I would appreciate any thoughts - I'm considering getting a mechanic out, but I may be over thinking it.

Thank you.
Joe

Depends on how the boat was wired. Some companies put a lot of time and thought into the process. Others, not so much.

Typically, the accessory wiring is terminated at the (switched) accessory connection at the battery switch then distributed from there. The exception is the bilge pump(s) which may or may not be wired directly to the battery.

If this is the case, it’s a simple process of moving the feed connection from one battery to the other.

When I reconfigured my battery setup, the goal was to increase my overall battery capacity (use both batteries for house load) while maintaining redundant power sources for critical equipment.

To do this I added an ACR (add a battery kit) to allow both batteries to share a common charge source (motor) yet keep the “starting” battery (I use deep cycle for both) isolated from the “house” battery.

In effect, it keeps the starting battery fully charged while dumping excess charge current to the house battery automatically

Makes battery management to much simpler as well. No more battery 1 or 2 games. Turn switch on in the morning. Turn switch off when done.

I appreciate that, thank you for your response. I see a cable wired to the switch called accessories, I guess that would make sense to wire the deep cycle up to the switch and relocate that loop wire to the DC hookup on the switch panel. (image below is from a video I took)

Am I on the right track? Thanks again.
