If it were me, I'd prefer the aluminum. Our family had a trihull in the 70's (with a 60hp). It was OK as a family boat, and dock-like stable, but handled chop poorly - even small chop rattles your teeth. Also ours cornered poorly (motor would cavitate easily). Plus, a fiberglass trihull is a heavy boat to trailer and launch, and is that much more weight to be pushing all the time. I think these probs are why trihulls seem to be a "70's" thing. So, in a nutshell, I wouldn't buy one.<br /><br />I've never owned either model of those motors, but the triple OMC's (70hp) always seemed like strong runners to me. The merc's seemed more "hit and miss" with there being some that ran strong, others that seemed wimpy (but who knows, maybe they were propped wrong or whatever). That's just my perception from other folks' rigs.<br /><br />Anyway, that's my $.02.... <br /><br />Brent
